Sunday February 14, 2010 we have invited Dr. Jerry Thorpe to preach. Dr.Thorpe
is the Pastor Emeritus of CrossRoads Fellowship (formerly Temple Baptist Church) of Odessa, Texas, and an active member of the Libery University Board of Lynchburg, Virginia. He co-pastored Temple Baptist Church with his father, Curtis Thorpe, from 1964 until 1984, at which time he assumed the position of Senior Pastor of the church. In 2000, Jerry retired as Senior Pastor of Temple Baptist Church and now travels all over the nation speaking.

“BucketsFull of Hope” to Haiti

As many of you have probably already heard, on Tuesday, January 12, 2010 a massive Earthquake occurred in Haiti. Their capital, Port-au-Prince has been destroyed with hospitals, homes and major buildings collapsing. Many have no where to go and nothing to survive with. We are just a few hundred miles from the disaster here in the Dominican Republic and although our church in Tamboril is in its infancy, along with our Haitian mission in Don Pedro we have decided to begin assembling “BucketsFull of Hope” today by simply filling them with a list of everyday items that can be purchased here and used to fill immediate needs. Obviously these buckets will do more than just take care of physical needs, we also want to let these families know they have not been forgotten and will be placing special tracts in Creol inside so they can discover the eternal hope of Jesus’ love. The “BucketsFull of Hope” will be well marked with our Non-Profit Associations (Familia Avance: Las Iglesias Biblicas Bautistas) logo in Spanish and its Creol address destination on the outside so as to facilitate its transport. The “BucketFull of Hope” will supply a family of four for at least three days with items readily available for purchase here in the Dominican Republic. We plan to have over 100 ready by the end of the week (Taking a step of faith) and are working on automating the process with nationals in our church so that future “BucketsFull of Hope” can be purchased, filled and sent without our presence. As soon as a Warehouse is rented by Wesley Lane in the lower Delma region of Port-au-Prince (3 miles from the Airport) Pastor Jean Dial, Regina and I will make the initial trip in with the cargo from Santo Domingo crossing through Anse-a-Pitre “Pedemales” in trucks with Haitian plates.

After planning, strategizing with Dominicans, Haitians and other relief organizations online and measuring what we could physically fit in a 5 Gallon “BucketFull of Hope” we can now announce that the following items will be purchased in large quantities tomorrow for less than $60. We pray that a lot will find there way to Brother’s and Sisters in Christ affected by the earthquake.

A Special Day Honoring Ken & Judy Adrian

Dear Friends,

Paul admonishes us, In the Book of Romans, to give honor to whom honor is due. We want to honor Dr. Ken Adrian and his wife Judy. Over fifty years ago, Dr. Adrian was ordained into the gospel ministry and for the last twenty-two years he has served as senior pastor here at Thomas Road Baptist Church.

In October, Pastor Adrian announced his resignation (retirement) as senior pastor effective January 24, 2010. At this time he will begin a new role as Teaching Pastor at TRBC.

We would like to invite you to a special day of honoring our pastor and his wife on Sunday, January 24, 2010. We have a full day of activities planned beginning at 9:00 am. At 10:00 am, Tim Adrian will be preaching in our morning worship service, highlighted by special guests. Our lunch on the grounds will begin at 12:00 noon. A special afternoon service will follow beginning around 1:45 pm.

Throughout this special day we will be presenting the Adrian’s with gifts and extraordinary remembrances. Make plans now to stay for the entire day.

Join in the celebration of Christmas with the TRBC Adult choir. Sunday December 13, 2009 the choir will give the musical entitled “Let There Be Light“. The evening will include congregational singing of Christmas carols and the story of Christ miraculous birth. Plan on making this part of your Christmas celebration.

The halfway point has arrived. I am halfway done with my chemotherapy regimen.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of those who have journeyed with me through the past several months. Cancer is the best thing that has happened to me. I am a better husband, a better father, a better friend, a better employee, a better boss, and a better follower of Jesus now. Thank you, God, for allowing me to experience what I have experienced. Sunday July 19th Evangelist Kent York

Evangelist Kent York will be preaching beginning in the 9:00 a.m. Bible Study, 10:00 a.m. worship service and the 6:00 p.m. evening service.

Kent York and his wife Julie make up the evangelistic team of Ignite Ministries. Kent is a 1980 graduate of Baptist Bible College in Springfield, MO. He and his family travel the world speaking in revivals, camps, conferences, and crusades. He pastored churches for 18 years in Kalamazoo, Michigan, Borger, Texas, and Berryville, Arkansas. Called to preach at the age of 17, he preached his first revival meeting at the age of 18. Kent has an ongoing perfect attendance record, now over 49 years, never missing one Sunday service in his life. Using a mixture of humor and poignant truth, the Word of God comes alive every service in his messages – to ignite and challenge the Church family! Julie, an accomplished soloist, sings to prepare hearts before every message. Kent and Julie have five children: A. J., 26, and his wife Brooke attend Baptist Bible College in Springfield, MO. and serve as children’s pastor at Graceway Baptist Church. Ben, 24, and his wife Ashley are the youth pastors at Bible Baptist Church in Chickasha, OK. Caleb, 21, and his wife Amanda attend Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Mo. Daniel, 20, is a sophomore at Baptist Bible College. Elizabeth, 13, travels with Kent and Julie and plays a vital role in Ignite Ministries.
