Salvaged Pieces
From Baptist Bible Fellowship International Weekly Connection Point, December 15, 2010
A businessman in Taiwan accidentally dumped a plastic bag, containing the equivalent of $6,600 US dollars in new Taiwan dollars, into a scrap machine. All was not lost, however, thanks to Liu Hui-fen.
Under Taiwanese law, as long as a person can piece together at least 75 percent of the original bill, he can claim replacement bills from the central bank. Liu works for the Justice Ministry’s Investigation Bureau and is in charge of helping citizens piece together currency that has been mangled. When the businessman came to the Bureau asking for help, Liu was there to tackle the enormous task of taking the tiny torn pieces of money and piecing them together into the original 200 bills. Her strategy was to find a certain Chinese character on each bill then work from that point outward. After seven days, the bills were patched together!
As valuable as these tiny pieces were to the businessman, one life, no matter how fragmented it may be, is of far greater value to God. God doesn’t just mend the broken pieces of one’s life, but He makes that person a new creature when he accepts Jesus Christ as his Savior. What a miracle! Are you discouraged thinking there is no hope for your life? Go to God, He wants to help you.
“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature; old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” – 2 Corinthians 5:17
